Alicia Evolves Alot can happen over six years. For singer Alicia Keys, she grew up. She has swapped the trademarkcornrows and sneakers she proudly wore when she first hit the music scene in 2001 for the flowing dresses and stiletto heels that mark a sophisticated 26-year-old. Still, some things — her powerful voice and innate talent — remain consistent and have even gotten better. Her recently released CD As I Am is proof of that. “In a lot of ways I guess it’s my transition into womanhood. All the songs have something to say about the things I’ve experienced,” Keys tells JET of her third studio release. “It’s special because I’ve grown as a writer, producer and arranger.
