Rihanna Covers Elle and Company magazine
published by Angella at 5/08/2008 04:17:00 PM
Check out Rihanna on the June 2008 issue of Company magazine. I am starting to get tired of that haircut, but I will save that for a futute post.
She is also on the June 2008 issue of Elle Magazine. I finally had a chance to read this interview, since my co-workers were basically naggin' me about it. During the interview, Rihanna admits that her and Chris Brown 'have always been friends, but they are closer now'. Like we did not know that already. Click here to read the interview. Mario Cover Jet Magazine

Singer Mario is on the latest issue of Jet magazine with the cover story 'Mario adopts and overcomes'. I think this interview is worth reading because Mario will be speaking on his childhood problems, which to my knowledge were very huge obstacles. He says: "My struggles drive me" and I can't help to think back on several interviews of him speaking of his mother's drug addiction when he was a child growing up in Baltimore.

Is Erykah Badu a nut-case?
published by Angella at 4/22/2008 02:37:00 PM
I know this interview of Erykah Badu with Blender magazine might be a couple days ago. Well it is for the May '08 issue, but this sh*t was just too good to pass up! While reading this interview, I think I got a better understanding of her personality. Which you have to agree is very rare than most long-time singers you have ever come acrossed.
Badu on her actions if her shoes were being confiscated:
Blender: Let's say you wake up in the middle of the night, and we're putting all your shoes into a bag. What would you do?
(laughs) I'd pull out my pistol and as I'm cocking the handle back, I'd ask you very nicely, "Put. The shoes. Back." Slowly, so you would understand exactly what I'm saying. I think you would put the shoes back.
Badu on her physical issues:
Blender: Who was the last person you punched?
My sister. And was pregnant. (laughs) Well, she was talking shit!
Badu on her sexual orientation:
Blender:Have you ever doubted your sexual orientation?
Never. I've had a boyfriend since I was 5. His name was Benny, and he could make gun noises by crushing a milk carton with his foot. The first person I ever kissed was Huber Miles, in third grade. Then I asked him for money. (laughs) I thought it was appropriate
Badu on rituals before having sex:
Blender:How would you describe your taste in sex?
I'm such an organized person that it takes all the fun out of spontaneous sex. It has to be organized the way I want: the clothes have to be folded up neatly, my own music has to be playing. It just adds to the whole show-it's all about me, it's my show.
Badu on her fantasy man:
Blender:Who is your fantasy man?
Batman. He'd let me drive that fast car. We'd go to Whole Foods and hold hands and take a shot of wheatgrass together. We'd go up to the counter, and he'd pay. I'd have an invisible jet, so we'd fly away -leave the car there, let Robin take care of it-and kiss in midair. We wouldn't care who sees us.[Source]

See no one knew! And it’s funny because I met Marlon when I was 20, when I had just got in TLC and you remember that movie “Mo Money”? I remember we were on tour with Hammer and we had went to the movies and I saw him in that movie. I was like “Oh My God he is soooo cute!!!” So we went out that night and I ended up seeing him that night. And I met him for the first time and we just clicked instantlyChilli on potential husband:
Girl, Marlon! [laughs] Oh god! He’s so awesome. I messed up. I blew that. I just wasn’t there at the time you know. Just someone who loves God and who is very respectful of himself. If that relationship with the Lord is there then he’s already gonna just not do certain things and will naturally do other things and that’s the part that’s hard for me to find. Like I meet these guys and they may have some stuff but they don’t have everything. And the things they don’t have are major enough for me to just be like “no, I can’t”. And girl I don’t waste time, I can tell by the second date. It’s like peace. Like “baby bye” and I won’t talk to him again.and wait there is more!

Alicia Keys Cover Blender Magazine
published by Angella at 4/13/2008 01:59:00 PM
She built her first wall as an 11-year-old, to deal with the pimps and strip-club shills who’d catcall at her in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen, as she shuttled between music lessons, ballet classes, school and the apartment she shared with her single mom. Keys took to camouflaging herself in cornrows, baggy jeans and Timberlands. “One hundred times a day, it was ‘come dance for me,’ ‘come work with me,’” Keys recalls.“ At 11! So my mentality was Protect yourself. And that took me right into the music game.” She kept the wall up (and the cornrows on) when, signed to a contract with Columbia Records at 16, she had to fend off the advances of music producers more interested in sex than music. “I was meeting all these people who just wanted to use me,” she says. “Or be with me.”
Quote of the day from Alicia Keys

I feel most beautiful when I’m not all glammed up, when I’m in my most natural state. Don’t get me wrong, I love having my hair and makeup done and wearing beautiful clothes, but I think it’s important for you to be able to appreciate yourself without all of the extras, how God made you*applause*....*still applauding* I am very proud and not to mention ecstatic Alicia Keys response to usa magazine's 20 questions w/ alicia. The reason being, is seeing how young women, close friends and family members that truly rely on the outside to make them feel better on the inside. It kills me! When they don't even realize that yes make-up and hair matters, but they also look beautiful withouth it. It should not be a must at all...[Source:aliciakeysdaily]

There are a lot of sides of me. I’m not just a wife and mother. I’m a woman. I wanted to celebrate what I was given…For me I hope I am an example to women to be who you are and not shy away from who you are.Now getting in to the comment that fellow blogger Ear to da' streetz made about seeing her more in playboy. I don't think so. Because even though I have not read the interview. It seems as if it was something she wanted to get out of her system once and for all. Plus, that husband of hers would not allow that again! LOL!

Rapper Snoop Dog along with this Wife Shante aka 'Da' boss lady' and his three children are on the latest cover of Jet magazine. I would of listed the kid's names, but lord knows I forgot! That should not be a problem for most who watch his show. Getting back to basis, in this issue Snoop explains his relationship with his kids and how much he has grown into a family man over the past 16 years of being in the music industry.
He says "As you get older, you have to put what matters most to you first. When my kids were younger, I didn’t know I needed them. Now I realize they need me. In the beginning it was all about me. I would always be at a party, a show or concert so it looked like I was ripping and running. Now you don’t see me too much and when you do see me, more than likely you’re going to see me with my wife or kids". Check out ebonyjet for a longer version of the snippet interview.

Vibe interviews T.I.
published by Angella at 2/21/2008 04:18:00 PM
VIBE: How do you feel about the reception American Gangster got? TI: Man, I think that it was definitely a phenomenal experience. I’m proud of the film. It was definitely a learning experience that I took away from it. It got me a lot of respect as an actor and it kind of overrode all of the doubt that comes with hiring a rap artist as an actor in a major motion picture. Most of the time when people consider casting rappers as actors, it’s not in a movie of this magnitude. You know, it’s very few of us that can really be taken seriously in a movie like American Gangster. I’m proud to be one of them. VIBE:What were some of the significant differences in terms of working on American Gangster as opposed to ATL? T.I:[For] one ATL kind of revolved around my character. American Gangster accented around my character. I think that it’s very important as an actor to do both. It’s important to show people that you can carry a movie and it’s important to show people that you can come in and spice up a movie no matter how big it is, no matter whom else is in it to show that intimidation isn’t a factor, and that the size of the role isn’t a factor, that you can still come in and do your thing VIBE:What did you learn from doing American Gangster? T.I.:[That] Ridley [Scott] is one of the coolest cats you could ever meet. A person of his accomplishments, you’d expect a totally different man then what you get. Like when you meet him and he’s so cool, and he’s got on a hoody and some cargo pants and he’s just chilling. It’s kind of like, "Damn, I wasn’t really expecting this." And how much humility he has and how much time he takes to actually convey what he wants to see on screen. You know, most people wouldn’t be bothered. People with half his accomplishments or a fraction of his accomplishments wouldn’t be bothered as much. So I was really impressed by that. I was real impressed by how efficient he was. It was times we had five or ten minutes to get a shot done and people was saying “Aight well, I know we ain’t gonna get this shot” and he’s like, “Nah, let’s go!” And he’d walk on set and he’d say, “Well your character’s gone do this, this, this and this and he’s feeling like this, this, this and this, ba da boom ba da bing, ACTION! Cut! GO!” It was just like working with the ultimate professional. It was definitely an experience. [Read More]

Jamie: You are amazing! Vivica: Girl, I am such an early riser! I got cats who wake me up, and then usually the trainer comes to the house. Jamie: You are a transformer. Vivica: You are hilarious! Jamie: But are you not? I don't see anybody else everywhere like you are. Vivica: But you know what? I'm gonna give hats off to Lita, my manager who--we're always trying to find the next thing. Like, "Vivica, we should be producing this. Vivica, we should ..." She's such a wonderful partner to have. Jamie: You've had her how long? Vivica: Twelve years. Jamie: Why did you choose her? Vivica: Lita started off as my lawyer. When I, years ago, started as a young actress, I was needing to get incorporated. I remembered that I'd met her at Paramount Studios and she told me she was a lawyer. She gave me a card, and I was like, "Wow. I never met no lawyer as fine as what you are, girlfriend, but go on with your bad self!" [laughs] She helped me with that, and from there she went to Magic Johnson Management. I was with somebody at the time, but I wasn't happy with them so she said, "I'll manage you for six months for free." You know, that's always the good bait and switch--if it starts working out, great. And gosh, the rest is history! We have now co-produced about eight films, and-- Jamie: You're kidding me! Vivica: Yeah! Yeah! Jamie: Tell me some. Vivica: We just did the sequel to Two Can Play That Game called Three Can Play... Motives I and II. We also co-produced a play, Whatever She Wants, which I don't know if you know, but I was on the road with Boris Kodjoe, Richard Roundtree, Little G from Silk. That was really, really successful. Oh, what's that one movie with Duane?

In a recent interview with Giant magazine, Alicia revealed that the talk show queen had advised her to maintain total secrecy about her relationships. When Keys was asked about her rumoured romance with her producer, she replied: "That's what they've been saying for a while now, but I don't usually address that question. Oprah told me never to tell - and I can't disobey Oprah!". However, Alicia did admit that she has found a perfect partner for herself. "I definitely found my partner. I know he is somebody who will always be special to me and that we're always going to be in each other's lives". She also owned up to her secretive nature during the initial stages of a relationship. "It's my nature to let them show me who they are first before I show them who I am. But once I'm in love with somebody, I'm the best girlfriend you could ever have," she said. Alicia said that her tendency to hold back had been emotionally draining at times, especially when she battled depression. "I was feeling so sad all the time, and I couldn't shake it," she says. "I started burying my feelings, and it got to a point where I couldn't even tell my family or my friends, 'I'm twisted,' or 'I'm exhausted,' or 'I'm so angry.' I became a master of putting up the wall so that I was unreadable," she said. [SOURCE]
